HC Deb 04 February 1952 vol 495 c626
31. Mr. Michael Stewart

asked the Attorney-General when he proposes to introduce legislation to amend the law relating to intestacy.

The Attorney-General

As the hon. Member is no doubt aware, there is already before the House a Private Member's Bill, which has been appointed for 28th March, the purpose of which is broadly to give effect to the recommendations of the Committee under the Chairmanship of Lord Morton of Henryton, whose Report was published last July.

Mr. Stewart

Is the hon. and learned Gentleman prepared to indicate the attitude of the Government towards this Bill?

The Attorney-General

I cannot do that now, but I think the hon. Member knows that Private Members' Bills are quite carefully considered in this Parliament.
