§ 19. Mr. Percy Shurmerasked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he is aware that retail coal merchants in the central areas of Birmingham are complaining of shortage of coal; and, in view of the cold weather now prevailing, if he will take urgent steps to remedy this situation.
§ Mr. Geoffrey LloydMy information is that supplies have been coming forward quite well.
§ Mr. ShurmerWhile that may be applicable to some districts in Birmingham where people can store their coal, may I ask if the Minister is aware that in the central area, where they are able to take only small quantities, I was told as recently as last week-end that there is still a shortage of coal?
§ Mr. LloydI also made inquiries at the week-end, but if the hon. Gentleman has superior information to mine and will let me know the names of the merchants I will investigate the matter.
