asked the Minister of Labour if he will suspend calling National Service recruits to join a unit between 15th December and 31st December in order that they can enjoy Christmas with their families.

Yes, Sir, in accordance with a practice which has been followed for some years, except that call-up to the Royal Air Force from England—other than the northern counties—and Wales will be resumed on 29th December, 1952.

May I ask whether similar facilities will be given in Scotland for Scottish recruits for the New Year?
