HC Deb 08 December 1952 vol 509 cc31-2
42. Mr. Legh

asked the Minister of Food whether he will provide that standard temporary ration cards, issued to beneficiaries of the welfare milk scheme who propose to leave home temporarily, shall be endorsed to authorise the purchase of welfare milk, or in some other way make it unnecessary for such people to register with the food office of the district into which they travel and reregister with their normal food office and milk retailer when they return home.

Dr. Hill

My right hon. and gallant Friend is now considering the best means of resolving this difficulty.

Mr. Legh

Is my hon. Friend aware that I am very grateful for that answer, which will be very well received in the country?

43. Mr. Legh

asked the Minister of Food whether his regulations require that beneficiaries of the welfare milk scheme should re-register at their food office for this milk when they move house, but do not leave their food office district or change their milk retailer.

Dr. Hill

No, Sir.

Mr. Legh

Will my hon. Friend give publicity in the country to his answer, because I find that a number of my constituents are of the opinion that, if they move house even 20 yards, they have to go through all the process of re-registering with the food office and with their milk retailer?

Dr. Hill

While it is not a requirement that they should re-register, it is desirable that they should inform the food office of their change of address.
