HC Deb 08 December 1952 vol 509 cc34-5
48. Sir H. Williams

asked the hon. Member for Woolwich, West, as Chairman of the Kitchen Committee, if he will make a statement about the experiment of using the Harcourt Room as a lounge; and whether, in view of the congestion in the Dining Rooms, he will consider restoring it as a dining room.

Mr. Steward

This matter is under consideration by the Kitchen Committee and will be discussed at their next meeting, to be held on Wednesday of this week.

Mr. Chapman

Could the hon. Member tell us to what extent now the Strangers' Dining Room is over-booked, and on what evenings of the week is it impossible to get bookings? Surely that has a bearing on the matter.

Mr. Steward

I should prefer not to make any statement until the Committee have considered the matter on Wednesday.
