HC Deb 29 April 1952 vol 499 c1196
3. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Works if he will take steps to exempt the cost of the time spent by a person building his own house from the £100 limit.

Mr. Eccles

It is already the practice, for the purposes of building control regulations, to exclude from the cost of work the value of the personal labour of the building owner himself.

Sir W. Smithers

Will the Minister remove all obstacles to the building of small homes and set the people free?

Mr. Eccles

That is really a question for my right hon. Friend the Minister of Housing.
