HC Deb 28 April 1952 vol 499 c1170

Lords Amendment: In page 10, line 39, at end insert new Clause "A": In section thirty-seven of the Coal Industry Nationalisation Act, 1946 (which provides for the making of regulations with respect to pensions, gratuities and other like benefits) the reference to the Board in paragraph (a) of subsection (1) shall be construed as including a reference to the Social Welfare Organisation.

Mr. Joynson-Hicks

I beg to move.

Mr. Herbert Morrison (Lewisham, South)

Will the hon. Gentleman not say what he is moving? If he is intending to move that the House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment, will he not say so?

Mr. Speaker

The proper form of Motion is, "I beg to move, 'That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment'."

The Minister of Fuel and Power (Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd)

This Amendment is to make sure that the employees under the new social welfare organisation shall get the same pensions as before.

Remaining Lords Amendments agreed to.
