§ 16. Mr. Ian Harveyasked the Secretary of State for War to what extent it is estimated that men called up for Z training will be available for the same duties in the event of an outbreak of hostilities.
§ Mr. HarveyIs my right hon. Friend not aware that I have brought several cases to his attention—there has been another case this afternoon which was mentioned by the hon. Member for Uxbridge (Mr. Beswick)—of men who have been called up for Class Z training who in no circumstances will be available in an emergency? This is a waste of their time and quite defeats the object of the scheme.
§ Mr. HeadThese cases are referred to the Ministry of Labour for clearance. It is our job not to call up for training men who are not available in time of war.
§ Mr. HarveyWill my right hon. Friend bring that fact to the attention of the Minister of Labour, because there seems 2467 to be some misunderstanding about the position?
