HC Deb 07 April 1952 vol 498 cc2264-5
11. Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Food to what extent he anticipates a shortage of milk in September of this year similar to that experienced in 1951; and what steps he proposes to take to ensure a more equitable distribution to dairymen and the public.

Major Lloyd George

It is too early yet to forecast the autumn milk position. My officers are discussing with the dairymen ways and means of meeting difficulties of distribution in any seasonal shortage that may arise.

Mr. Dodds

Does that answer mean that the Minister is determined, if there is a shortage of milk, that the housewives and the dairymen will this time get a fair distribution?

Major Lloyd George

We shall do our best, as we always have done, to see that distribution is fairly maintained.
