HC Deb 29 November 1951 vol 494 c1731
Mrs. Barbara Castle

On a point of order, might I seek your guidance, Mr. Speaker? In today's HANSARD I am on record as having, in the early hours of yesterday morning, gone into the Division Lobby with hon. Gentlemen opposite and voted "Aye" in Division No. 17, which was on a Closure Motion. In view of the damage this is likely to do to my political reputation, could steps be taken to expunge this error from the record?*

Mr. Speaker

I will certainly do all I can to mitigate the damage done to the hon. Lady.

Sir William Darling

On a point of order. Following the hon. Lady, Mr. Speaker, may I direct your attention to the fact that the right hon. Gentleman, in the debate the night before last, said that I was asleep, and as this statement by him is likely to cause dissatisfaction to my constituents, who probably look upon me as a watchful and wakeful Member, may I ask what steps I can take to have it expunged from the record?

Mr. Speaker

I shall have to consider that.
