§ 63. Sir H. Williamsasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the address of his Deputy Medical Adviser to the Industrial Welfare Society on 21st November was given with his authority or approval.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterYes, Sir. Permission was given for the Treasury Deputy Medical Adviser to give the address in question. This permission does not, of course, imply either approval or disapproval of every opinion expressed by the lecturer, who spoke in his individual, not his official, capacity.
§ Sir H. WilliamsIs my hon. Friend aware that one of his main recommendations is completely contrary to the experience of anybody who successfully runs any kind of business?
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterNo doubt my hon. Friend's comment will find its way to the very distinguished gentleman in question, but my impression of the general gist of this lecture was that it indicated that people in responsible positions had a great deal of work to do.
