HC Deb 27 November 1951 vol 494 c1096
13. Brigadier Terence Clarke

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government when he proposes to inform the war-damaged cities the amount of money he proposes to allocate for reconstruction during the year 1952.

Mr. H. Macmillan

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the reply which I gave to the hon. Member for Plymouth, Sutton (Mr. J. J. Astor), on 20th November.

Brigadier Clarke

Will my right hon. Friend bear in mind that the late Government did very little or nothing to help restore these war-damaged places?

Mr. Macmillan

I shall do my best.

Mr. Awbery

Will the Minister make the availability of labour and the supply of building materials the limit of building houses and not finance?
