HC Deb 22 November 1951 vol 494 cc562-3
50. Mr. Donnelly

asked the Minister of Agriculture what steps he has taken to initiate a special price review for agricultural produce.

Sir T. Dugdale

I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to Questions on this subject last Thursday. I am hoping to make a further statement in the near future.

Mr. Donnelly

Is the right hon. and gallant Gentleman aware of the very great uncertainty which is facing these small farmers, especially the small milk producer farmers, and will he be able to make his statement before the Christmas Recess?

Sir T. Dugdale

Yes, Sir; I hope very much that that will be possible.

Mrs. Barbara Castle

Can the right hon. and gallant Gentleman assure the House that he will take no steps to increase the cost of living?

Sir T. Dugdale

I will certainly take notice of what the hon. Lady says, but I cannot give the assurance that she would like to hear.
