HC Deb 21 November 1951 vol 494 cc359-60
7. Mr. Raymond Gower

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether he is satisfied that work on the television transmitter at Wenvoe, Glamorgan, is being carried on with all possible expedition; and whether he is now in a position to state when the transmitter is likely to come into service.

Mr. Gammans

Work on the television station at Wenvoe is being carried on as quickly as possible, but it is too early to say when the station will come into service.

Mr. Gower

Will the hon. Gentleman study every possibility of accelerating progress?

Mr. Gammans

Yes, Sir.

Mr. S. S. Awbery

Has the Minister made any provision for the distribution of television sets in the area covered by this new station?

Mr. Gammans

The Post Office is not responsible for the sale of television sets.
