10. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that much can be done to help recruiting by adjusting conditions of service, improving accommodation and providing better educational facilities for Service families; and what action he proposes to take to implement these improvements.

Mr. Head

Yes, Sir. I am aware of the part that these matters, and others, play in the encouragement of recruiting. I do not, however, wish to anticipate any statement that I shall make as a result of my examination of this important problem.
