§ 20. Mr. Peter Robertsasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether, in view of the fact that Sheffield has consistently received a lower allocation of licences than other towns of a comparable size, he will now increase the number of licences to 2,500 in order to help to solve the housing problems in Sheffield.
§ The Minister of Housing and Local Government (Mr. Harold Macmillan)As I informed the hon. Member for Park (Mr. Mulley) on 13th November, I am ready to increase the allocation in accordance with progress made.
§ Mr. RobertsDoes that mean that it is up to the Sheffield Council itself to make good its progress and that after that further allocations will be made?
§ Mr. MacmillanThese allocations are given from time to time. They are not statutory. As progress is made I will certainly consider further allocations.
