§ 35. Captain Robert Ryderasked the Minister of National Insurance whether, in the case of persons who, through loss of memory, have failed to cash a postal 18 draft issued by the National Insurance office within the prescribed six months, he will issue a new postal draft to enable them to draw the benefit to which they were entitled.
§ Mr. PeakeNo, Sir; such action would be outside the powers conferred on me by the National Insurance Act, 1946.
§ Captain RyderIf my right hon. Friend has not sufficient powers to deal with this anomaly, will he come to the House and seek those powers?
§ Mr. PeakeThis question of the time-limit is, as I think my hon. and gallant Friend knows, before the Advisory Committee at the present time, and I think we had better await their report upon it.
