HC Deb 19 November 1951 vol 494 c2
2. Mr. Norman Dodds

asked the Minister of Transport what progress has been made to avoid a repetition of the delays and hold-ups on railways in the London area by fog and the icing of points.

The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation (Mr. John Maclay)

I am bringing the hon. Member's Question to the attention of the British Transport Commission who will, doubtless, communicate with him.

Mr. Dodds

Is the Minister aware that passengers are dreading another winter like last winter which cost the country such a loss in productivity by the delays on the London railways? Cannot the scientists do something more than has been done so far to deal with this menace?

Mr. Maclay

I suggest that the hon. Member awaits the reply to which I have referred in my answer.
