HC Deb 13 November 1951 vol 493 cc817-8
54 and 55. Mr. Morley

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) if he will consider releasing the late husbands' post-war credits to widows who have been left in straitened circumstances;

(2) if he will consider releasing postwar credits at an earlier age than at present.

62. Mr. A. S. Moody

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will sympathetically consider the paying out of postwar credits to married women on the death of their husbands.

63. Mr. F. Longden

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will consider an extension of the payment of post-war credits to further categories of the necessitous aged and sick.

65. Mr. George Craddock

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will consider an extension of the payment of post-war credits to further categories of the necessitous, including widows.

67. Mr. G. Thomas

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider paying post-war credits in cases of hardship.

Mr. R. A. Butler

Our present economic situation precludes any immediate extension of the present field of repayment of Income Tax post-war credits When further releases become possible I will consider all the various extensions of the field of payment that have been suggested.

Mr. Morley

Owing to the unsatisfactory nature of that reply, I beg to give notice that I shall raise the matter on the Adjournment.
