HC Deb 12 November 1951 vol 493 c644
47. Mr. Dodds

asked the Prime Minister when he proposes to make a new bid for peace by initiating fresh negotiations with President Truman and Marshal Stalin.

The Prime Minister

There are at present no plans for negotiations on general problems with the Soviet Union, but the possibility of a high-level meeting should not be excluded if circumstances are favourable.

Mr. Dodds

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that tens of millions of people are looking to him to raise the icy temperature of the cold war? Is he aware that last Friday night at a public meeting Lord Beaver-brook forecast that the Prime Minister would meet Marshal Stalin? Does he think that Lord Beaver-brook is a good or a bad forecaster?

The Prime Minister

I have nothing to add to my answer.
