HC Deb 12 November 1951 vol 493 c643
45. Mr. Donnelly

asked the Prime Minister why the name of the Minister of Local Government and Planning has been changed to Housing and Local Government.

The Prime Minister (Mr. Winston Churchill)

The change has been made in order to emphasise the importance of housing. The word "Planning" has been omitted from the Minister's title for reasons of brevity and not of policy.

Mr. Donnelly

Will the right hon. Gentleman give a firm assurance that good agricultural land in the country and decent living conditions in the cities are still to be maintained?

The Prime Minister

This is a question of title and not of fact or principle.
