HC Deb 31 May 1951 vol 488 c399
35. Mr. P. Thorneycroft

asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps are being taken to ensure that no cargoes essential to British industry and the re-armament drive are being held up as a result of the Manchester dock strike.

Sir H. Shawcross

The position is being closely watched. Although some important cargoes are being delayed, my right hon. Friend the Minister of Supply and I are satisfied that so far essential production has not been held up.
