HC Deb 29 May 1951 vol 488 c3
3. Sir Jocelyn Lucas

asked the Minister of Works if the colour scheme for the lamp standards at the junction of Westminster Hall and St. Stephen's Chapel is intended to be final; and if he will reconsider it.

Mr. G. Brown

The present colour of the lamp standards is not necessarily final; experiments are still proceeding.

Sir J. Lucas

May I congratulate the Minister upon already having altered the original colour scheme?

Mr. Bossom

Would the Minister consider getting someone to advise him who has rather better taste than is shown in the experiments so far made, which appear to have been very undesirable?

Mr. Brown

I would be very glad to have any help the hon. Member can give me in the matter, but I would tell him that those who are concerned in this matter have already been very successful in dealing with ancient monuments.
