57. Mr. Charles Ian Orr-Ewingasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many dollars were received in royalties during 1950 as a result of the use by the United States of America of British developments in jet and gas turbine aircraft engines; and what are the forecast receipts for 1951 and 1952.
§ Mr. GaitskellThe United Kingdom received about $2,170,000 from the United States in 1950 in respect of British designed jet engines. It is expected that the figure for 1951 will show some increase over 1950, but it is not yet possible to give any estimate for 1952.
Mr. Charles Ian Orr-EwingCould the right hon. Gentleman consider publishing that figure when it is available, so that other North Atlantic Treaty countries can appreciate the very considerable contribution which we are making in this field to joint defence?
§ Mr. GaitskellPerhaps I could have notice of that question. I think it does.
