§ 70. Wing Commander Bullusasked the Minister of Local Government and Planning if he will give a list of the local housing authorities who have been allowed an extra allocation of houses to be built during the present year.
§ Mr. LindgrenMore than 300 local housing authorities have already received additional allocations for 1951. As the list is being constantly added to, it might be misleading to publish it at present.
§ Wing Commander BullusCan the hon. Gentleman say whether the Borough of Wembley is included in that list, and will be also consider sympathetically any other applications made to him?
§ Mr. LindgrenMy right hon. Friend has already indicated that these additional allocations are based upon actual performance.
Mr. Charles Ian Orr-EwingCan the Minister say what these additional allocations will make the total figure for the country during the current year? Is it going to be materially above the 200,000 which the Government plan?
§ Mr. LindgrenNo, Sir, within the 200,000. We take from those who are not building and give to those who are.
§ Mr. LindgrenNot without notice, but I think the figure is within the region of 8,000.
§ Miss Irene WardDoes not the hon. Gentleman realise that it would be of very great interest to the country as a whole to have the names of these local authorities? Surely, through Parliamentary Questions, we could have subsequent lists published so that there would be no mistake. Will the Minister please reconsider the position?
§ Mr. LindgrenWe are always prepared to reconsider the position, but it would be rather like casting a reflection on those not included in the lists when there may be no cause for such reflection.
