HC Deb 01 May 1951 vol 487 cc991-2
34. Lieut.-Commander R. H. Thompson

asked the Minister of Local Government and Planning whether an allocation of houses for male telephonists is contemplated in the plans for Crawley satellite town.

Mr. Dalton

No special allocation will be made, but the New Town Corporation are in touch with the postmaster regarding the housing needs of his staff.

Lieut.-Commander Thompson

Would not the Minister agree that in a planned community of this kind some special steps should be made to provide this accommodation for key personnel at an early stage?

Mr. Dalton

It has all been perfectly planned, and the hon. and gallant Member will be interested to hear that only one additional male telephonist will be required before the end of 1952.
