HC Deb 21 March 1951 vol 485 c2427
Mr. Peter Thorneycroft

(by Private Notice) asked the Minister of Transport whether he has any statement to make on railway freights and fares before the House adjourns for the Easter Recess.

The Minister of Transport (Mr. Barnes)

I may be in a position to make a statement tomorrow morning, but I cannot give a definite undertaking to do this.

Mr. Thorneycroft

In view of the real urgency and importance of a decision on this vital matter, will the right hon. Gentleman give an undertaking to make a very special effort to inform the House before we go away for the Easter Recess?

Mr. Barnes

Yes, Sir. I am very anxious to do that, and I am hoping that will be possible.
