Mr. Peter Freemanasked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the case, details of which have been sent to him, of a boy, eight years of age, whose brain and physical health have been affected by an operation of immunisation against diphtheria given him in 1943 at an official health clinic, as established by the National Hospital of Diseases; what compensation is payable to this child or his parents; why such a long time elapsed between the boy being seen by the Cardiff doctor and being sent to a specialist; and whether other similar cases have been reported.
§ Mr. MarquandThe case has not previously been brought to the notice of my Department. I am looking into it, and will write to my hon. Friend as soon as possible.
