HC Deb 13 March 1951 vol 485 c1296
Mr. R. A. Butler

May I ask the Leader of the House if he has any statement to make on Business?

The Secretary of State for the Home Department (Mr. Ede)

Yes, Sir. It is not expected that there will be time tomorrow to deal with more than the Committee stage of the Civil Supplementary Estimates for the Ministry of Supply and the Board of Trade. The Supplementary Estimate for the Ministry of Food announced as third item tomorrow will therefore be debated first on Thursday on Report stage, followed by the other Estimates already announced for consideration on that day.

Mr. H. Hynd

Does that announcement mean that the House will not be expected to sit until 2 o'clock or 3 o'clock in the morning?

Mr. Ede

It has nothing to do with the time at which the House will rise. These Supplementary Estimates will be put under the Guillotine at 9.30 p.m. both tomorrow and Thursday, but tomorrow night there has been set down for consideration a Sheffield Corporation Bill, which may considerably cut into the time available for the House tomorrow.
