asked the Minister of Supply what information he has about the progress which has been made in the standardisation of parts in the motor industry.

My Ministry has been active in impressing on the engineering industry the need for greater standardisation and has met with a ready response. The application of the principles of standardisation is a matter for each industry. Although I have no detailed information of the progress which the motor industry has made, I am satisfied that it is giving close and energetic attention to the problem.
