HC Deb 29 June 1951 vol 489 cc1783-4
Mr. Dalton

I beg to move, in page 13, line 3, at the beginning, to insert: Where an operator carries out on or in relation to worked ironstone land any such works as are authorised by the said section four- teen to be carried out by a local authority (not being such work as is mentioned in subsection (1) of section seven of this Act), then. There are consequential drafting Amendments following this Amendment. The intention here is to enable the Minister to pay out of the Ironstone Restoration Fund for work carried out by an operator beyond the main work of levelling and top soiling. For example, a screen of trees may be planted, or other work of that kind, or any of the things a local authority could do under Clause 14. In my view, there is no reason why payment should not be made from the Fund for such work.

Amendment agreed to.

Further Amendments made: in page 13, line 4, leave out from "to," to end of line 7, and insert "the operator."

In line 22, leave out from "1919," to end of line 24.—[Mr. Dalton.]
