HC Deb 25 June 1951 vol 489 c990
39. Brigadier Rayner

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the new considerations submitted to him, he will now authorise the completion of the Totnes by-pass.

Mr. Barnes

I do not know of any new considerations which would warrant my altering the decision of which I informed the hon. and gallant Member on 11th December last.

Brigadier Rayner

Will the right hon. Gentleman spend a night in South Devon, when I would show him how little has been done and how much remains to be done to the road. I think that would change his opinion.

Mr. Barnes

I am afraid that that would be exercising undue pressure upon a Minister.
