13. Lieut.-Commander Clark Hutchison

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation to extend to British subjects, who are permanent officials of the Secretariat of the United Nations organisation, and their wives, the service qualification for voting at general elections which is already applicable to prescribed classes of persons in the service of the Crown.

Mr. Ede

Lieut.-Commander Hutchison

Will the right hon. Gentleman give further thought to this matter when considering the next Bill to amend the Representation of the People Act?

Mr. Ede

When the time comes for such an amending Bill, this is one of the matters which will be considered.
