HC Deb 19 June 1951 vol 489 c211
2. Mr. Wood

asked the Minister of Pensions what would be the additional cost to the Exchequer of granting to all other ranks the same rate of disability pension as is now paid to warrant officers, first class.

Mr. Simmons

Approximately £10½ million per annum.

Mr. Wood

Can the hon. Gentleman say whether or not the Government are in favour of the principle of granting equal compensation to people who have suffered similar disabilities?

Mr. Simmons

There is no proposal at the moment for equal compensation. The ex-Service men's organisations are themselves not unanimous on the question.
