asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty what proportion of the submarines used in the recent naval exercise have been fitted with snorts.

Seventy per cent.

Mr. Watkinson

Will the hon. Gentleman try and work towards 100 per cent. as early as possible? Does the hon. Gentleman appreciate that any exercises which are held today with submarines which are not fitted with under-water breathing devices are somewhat unrealistic?
