HC Deb 13 June 1951 vol 488 cc2272-3
6. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what was the purpose of the visit to Sarawak of Mr. Shearman, of the Workers' Educational Association; and to what extent the cost of his visit was met from public funds.

Mr. J. Griffiths

Mr. Shearman visited Sarawak from Singapore to lecture and give advice on educational problems. He went there at the request, supported by the Sarawak administration, of the British Council's representative, and the cost was met from funds remitted to the Council by the Colonial Office.
