HC Deb 13 June 1951 vol 488 cc2276-7
17. Mr. Roland Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what have been the results of the investigation into the leaf scald disease in British Guiana made by Dr. E. V. Abbott, the plant pathologist from the United States Department of Agriculture, who recently visited the Colony under the auspices of the Economic Co-operation Administration, and what steps it is now proposed to take to eradicate this disease.

Mr. J. Griffiths

Dr. Abbott has completed his investigations. He and Mr. Wiehe, a plant pathologist from Nyasaland, who has been seconded to British Guiana to supervise work on this disease, have jointly prepared a programme of control and research. Certain immediate control measures are being instituted.
