HC Deb 31 July 1951 vol 491 c1161
9. Mr. Malcolm MacPherson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many senior secondary schools are at present without a fully-qualified teacher of mathematics; and what steps he proposes in order to ensure that the supply of such teachers is distributed to the best advantage.

Mr. McNeil

I regret that the information for which my hon. Friend asks in the first part of his Question is not available. The staffing of schools is the responsibility of the education authorities and I have no power, nor do I seek power, to direct the transfer of teachers from one area, or one school, to another.
