HC Deb 30 July 1951 vol 491 cc1114-5

Lords Amendment: In line 5, at end,. insert: and to provide for laying before Parliament the annual reports of river boards.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment."—[Mr. Lindgren.]

Lieut.-Colonel Elliot

I would point out that we have now repealed the Rivers Pollution Prevention (Border Councils) Act, 1898, and new legislation will have to be submitted to deal with that. I think the Parliamentary Secretary will confirm that we have now no statutory means of co-operating between England and Scotland over the rivers Tweed and Esk, and we shall require to give that further consideration.

Question put, and agreed to.
