HC Deb 25 July 1951 vol 491 c447
15. Mr. Donnelly

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what action His Majesty's Government is taking regarding the proposal that Western Germany should make a contribution to a European army.

Mr. Ernest Davies

The interim report of the Conference on a European Army, to which it has been proposed that Western Germany should make a contribution, has been received today, and it is the intention of His Majesty's Government to study it together with the High Commissioners' report on the exploratory discussions in Bonn.

Mr. Donnelly

Can my hon. Friend say whether the four conditions laid down by the Prime Minister at the beginning of the year still remain the policy of His Majesty's Government?

Mr. Davies

Yes, Sir. The policy of His Majesty's Government is as was stated by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister in his speech in February.
