HC Deb 23 July 1951 vol 491 c27
39. Wing Commander Bullus

asked the Attorney-General if he is now able to state his decision with regard to the alleged contravention of building regulations by the Yorkshire Electricity Board, following the Report from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The Attorney-General

I have now received and considered a full report concerning alleged breaches of Defence Regulation 56A in connection with work done by the Yorkshire Electricity Board at Scarcroft and Bramhope. This report discloses a prima faciecase of infringement of the Regulation, and I have accordingly given instructions for criminal proceedings to be instituted against those responsible.

Wing Commander Bullus

Although in every way this is most unfortunate, Ion. Members who know the circumstances will applaud the decision of the Attorney- General. Might I ask him what form the prosecution will take? Will it be a prosecution of the Board or of the members who gave the orders contravening the building regulations?

The Attorney-General

I think it would not be in the public interest for me to add to what I have said. These matters will be considered by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
