HC Deb 23 July 1951 vol 491 cc27-8
41. Mr. Steward

asked the Minister of Food what steps he is taking to ensure that food stocks, held in reserve in case of an emergency, are held in good condition; and what arrangements are made for periodical turnover of such stocks.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food (Mr. Frederick Wiley)

All these stocks are regularly inspected and turned over in order to ensure good condition.

Mr. Steward

How often are these stocks inspected, bearing in mind the present type of flour, which is not of very good keeping quality?

Mr. Willey

The answer would depend upon the commodity. I am sure that the House will agree with me that it would be unwise on security grounds to disclose the commodities being stocked.
