§ 44. Mr. Russellasked the Minister of Labour if he is satisfied that the normal arrangements for enabling men to obtain employment are adequate in the case of coloured people from the Colonial Empire.
§ Mr. BevanAt the end of July there were only 1,100 coloured colonials registered as unemployed, chiefly in Liverpool and London. The local offices have been successful in placing a number of them in employment, even in Merseyside, where there is considerable general unemployment.
§ Mr. RussellIs the right hon. Gentleman quite satisfied that enough guidance and advice is given, because these people clearly need more than white people?
§ Mr. BevanThere are, of course, certain difficulties, and I am making investigations to see whether they can be given additional advice.
