HC Deb 26 February 1951 vol 484 c1737
43. Mr. Drayson

asked the Minister of Food if he has now considered the letter sent to him by the National Federation of Fish Friers Limited, dated 1st February, 1951, protesting at the high price of cooking oils and fats; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Webb

Yes, Sir, and a reply has been sent to the Federation. I regret the necessity for the recent increase in the prices of oils and fats to trade users, but this did no more than allow for the extra cost to my Department. The new prices are still well below present world market prices and compare very favourably with those of uncontrolled cooking oils.
