HC Deb 26 February 1951 vol 484 c1728
14. Mr. D. Marshall

asked the Minister of Food what quantity of coarse grains he expects to purchase from the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan this year.

Mr. Webb

I shall be glad to consider offers of any suitable feeding grain from the Sudan, but I am not aware that any supplies are available at present.

Mr. Marshall

Would the right hon. Gentleman explore this possibility, as I think he might find it to our mutual benefit?

Mr. Webb

If I can have any assistance from the hon. Gentleman I shall be be very glad to have it, but, so far, we have had no reasonable offer that would give us any conviction at all that we should be likely to get the kind of stuff we want from that part of the world.
