HC Deb 06 December 1951 vol 494 cc2551-2
43. Miss Irene Ward

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has completed his investi- gations into the pensions paid to relatives of policemen who lose their lives in the performance of their duty; and if he will make a statement.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

I am looking into question, which my predecessor had under consideration, but I am not in a position to make any statement at present. We had some discussion on this last night.

Miss Ward

May I ask whether my right hon. and learned Friend can give any indication as to when he will be in a position to make a statement, or is this matter covered by the general review of pensions which is being carried out by the Chancellor of the Exchequer?

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

I am sorry that my hon. Friend was not present at the debate last night when this matter was discussed. The position on this matter was indicated at that time and I do not want to go over it in detail today.
