asked the Minister of Works for what reason his Department are leasing offices in Chepstow Place, London, in view of the intention of the Government to economise in office accommodation.

The Ministry of Works is responsible for finding accommodation for the staffs of Government Departments. My Department has taken a lease of the premises in Chepstow Place in order that private property occupied by Government staff may be derequisitioned.

Mr. Steward

Will the Minister confirm that it is the Government's intention to reduce the number of premises occupied by various Ministries, and not to increase them?

That is a question which should be put down to every one of my right hon. Friends. My duty is to procide accommodation for such staff as they require
