§ 30. Mr. Emrys Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware that key building workers in the parish of Mauchline and Sorn are unable to get housing accommodation for themselves; and if he will grant an increased allocation of houses to this area, in order that such workers may continue their activities in providing houses for others in this area.

StuartI have received no representations on this subject from the county council, who are responsible for the siting of houses in the county, and I understand that they are not aware of any special need for houses for building workers in this area. If, however, the hon. Member will give me particulars I shall gladly have further inquiries made.
§ Mr. HughesIs the Minister aware that although a large number of houses have been built in this parish during the last six years, there is a building trade worker of 21 years' experience in the trade who is living in a condemned house and who has been told that he cannot get a house for another seven years? Will the Minister look into the possibility of providing an incentive to building workers by giving them a prospect of getting houses for themselves?
