19. Dr. Hillasked the Minister of Health if he is now able to state his decision on the request from the conference of local medical committees that the long-standing dispute on the remuneration of general practitioners in the National Health Service be referred for arbitration.
§ Mr. MarquandI hope to reply to this request in the course of the next few days.
§ Mr. AwberyAs there appears to be a dispute between the medical committees and the National Health Service, will my right hon. Friend now refer the matter to the Minister of Labour with a view to the appointment of an arbitrator so that the matter can be discussed in the same manner as ordinary industrial disputes?
§ Mr. MarquandThere is no dispute. An exchange of views is taking place. My latest letter will be on its way very shortly.
