§ 38. Mr. Emrys Hughesasked the Secretary of State for War if he will now make a statement on the recent escape of soldiers from Maryhill Barracks, Glasgow.
§ Mr. StracheyOn 11th March, 1951, a number of prisoners who were being conducted back to their cells rushed the door, which was unlocked, and entered the compound yard. Eight succeeded in making their escape. Steps are being taken to ensure the completeness of 202 guard orders and to improve the general supervision of the detention rooms.
